Singer Praiz raises N10m for baby with hole in the heart


Soul singer Praiz did the most incredible thing recently. He raised N10million for a little girl with a hole in the heart, Somaya Olayinka Dahli. Somaya had a successful surgery late last year to close the hole in her heart, but needed money for post-surgery care.

Praiz offered 100% of his one-month revenue from the sales of his callertune, Oshe, to the little girl. The money was presented to the girl and her parents two weeks ago.

7 months after suspension, Pastor Kumuyi reinstates son as Pastor

7 months after suspending his son John Kumuyi for staging what the church termed 'an extravagant wedding' and the bride wearing make up and a fitted wedding dress at their June 2013 Jamaica wedding,  Deeper Life General Overseer, Pastor William Kumuyi has re-instated his son as a pastor in the church.

Pastor Kumuyi and elders of the church forgave John and his wife and he has been reinstated back into the pastoral arm where he can also preach on the pulpit.

Several Nigerian Artistes dominates World Music Awards nominations


Several Nigerian artistes including Waje, P-Sqaure, D'banj, Iyanya, Femi Kuti, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Dare Art Alade, Praiz, 2face Idibia and others bagged nominations in various categories in the 2014 World Music Awards. The World Music Awards rewards the best-selling music artistes from every continent. It is decided by votes. Iyanya leads the Nigerian nominees with 6 awards

Waje was nominated in four categories including Album of the Year and Female Artist of the Year. The 'I wish' songbird is enjoying some international attention off of her debut album. She was also nominated as African artist of the year in the Black Canadian awards a few days ago beside South African star Lira and Kardinal Offishall.  See WMA Africa's nomination list after the cut...

Basketmouth brought down 02 Arena with Uncensored 2014 UK Tour


The Basketmouth Uncensored Tour which kicked off in Port Harcourt hit the U.K over the Valentine weekend through 4 cities - Aberdeen, Manchester, Birmingham and finally London at the Indigo O2 Arena.  

Tickets to the show were sold out a week before the concert date and even after launching standing tickets, they sold out in hours! The concert has gone down as the 1st African comedy or music show to be sold out completely in London.

Interestingly the ad campaign promoted Basketmouth as the only performing artist for the night (which many feared may affect turn out being that most shows are known to feature top music acts alongside comedy), but this was set-up as the traditional one-man stand up gig. He held the crowd down with a straight set of 2 hours, all brand new material.  

The show is set to touch down in Lagos on the 4th of May 4th at the Eko Hotel & suites Convention Centre.  see more photos after the cut...

AGN install President Jonathan as Grand Patron of the Guild.


Actors' Guild of Nigeria members including Ibinabo Fiberesima, Monalisa Chinda,Stephanie Linus, Fred Amata, Joseph Benjamin, Desmond Elliot, Victor Osuagwu, Chidi Mokeme, Mercy Aigbe and others paid a courtesy visit to President Jonathan at the State House today Feb. 18th to install him as Grand Patron of the Guild.

They also asked president Jonathan to sack heads of movie regulatory agencies, the Nigerian Film Corporation, NFC, and The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), because they have shown lack of capacity to put the industry on the path of growth. See more photos after the cut...

17 year old Bowen Student killed for rejecting sexual advances


For not accepting sexual advances from boys in her neighborhood and being 'too proud', 17 year old Opeyemi Odusanya (pictured above) was killed at her parents house in the Alakuko area of Lagos on the 3rd of February by boys believed to be cultist.

Beautiful Opeyemi who was a 300 level student of Biochemistry at the Bowen University was to be raped but according to police report made available to Punch, she fought against it and was sadly stabbed to death, with her intestines ripped out. Continue...
